Communities and Nature (CAN) was an EU funded programme led by Natural Resources Wales designed to connect local communities with their local environment, through a diverse range of infrastructure projects including building developments, physical environmental improvements and engagement of local communities in activities related to the projects. These ranged from the new visitor centre at Cwm Idwal in Snowdonia to the creation of a commercial nursery for people with learning disabilities at Stackpole in Pembrokeshire. The photography commision recorded the sucesses of the various projects spread throughout Wales.
The photography work focussed on both people, the environment and the structures. The illustration represent a cross-section of images taken as partt of the commission.
‘The Communities and Nature Project is a strategic project led and managed by Natural Resources Wales. We contracted Nigel Forster to deliver a series of images that captured the infrastructure delivered by the project as well as its softer outputs. The brief covered a large geographical area and a wide range of activities including footpaths, community events, buildings, and people engaging in their environment. The images will be used for reports, presentations, websites, and policy documents. We are very satisfied with the resulting product, as well as Nigel's professional approach and very fast service. We very much hope to be able to work with Nigel again in the future’.
