What you’ll learn
We’ve all seen the technical expert with all the equipment imaginable but who lacks knowledge of composition and other creative skills to capture effective images; likewise most of us have seen (or taken!) potentially great images let down by technical faults such as over-exposure, camera shake or poor focussing.
Our courses cover a wide range of subjects backed up by a set of Course Notes illustrated with Nigel's images to take away with you which you'll find difficult to beat anywhere! Each course note also comes with practical exercises which you can use time and time again after the course has finished. View and Download the current Course Notes Contents Page here. Also, the notes are being continually expanded and updated.
So you get:
• Expert tuition with clear explanation in both technical and creative aspects of photography.
• Learning in the latest techniques in digital photography, using Photoshop at the end of the course to process, complete and print your best images.
Although our courses are essentially outdoors or ‘landscape’ based, any course participant needing advice on any other aspect or subject in photography need only ask and Nigel will do his best to help and if possible allow time for you to practise your preference or issue during the course. We also send out a short questionnaire in advance so that we can more accurately tailor the course to your needs.
All One to One courses also include the most comprehensive set of course notes available anywhere, covering a wide range of photographic subjects and complete with lots of practical exercises for you to use long after the course has finished. View and download a FREE example of our course notes

Subjects
• Landscapes
• Abstract photography
• Architecture & Interiors
• Events and action photography
• And of course whatever particular photographic interest you have you need to know!
Obviously there’s more time to cover a wide range of aspects of photography in a One 2 One course, but on the group courses we do our best to cover a variety of subjects of common interest, and of course Nigel is on hand at any time to answer any specific questions you may have.

Your experience:
Our courses are designed to cater for all levels of knowledge and experience. If you’re a newcomer to photography, Nigel will take you through the basics of camera control and image composition. For the more experienced, learn more advanced techniques and how to take those dramatic and innovative pictures you only thought were the preserve of the professional!!
Your equipment:
Your level of equipment is likely to relate to your level of experience – generally the more pictures we take the more we collect and the more we find we need! Our courses are flexible enough to cater for participants with just a camera or a full range of equipment. However, while a compact camera with a fixed lens would enable you to gain benefit from the group workshops, we do advise those booking One 2 One tuition to possess a DSLR camera with interchangeable lenses and preferably a tripod. We can of course advise on any equipment you wish to purchase either before or after the course and the course information pack included advice and tips on buying equipment.
Your fitness and experience of the outdoors:
Courses are designed to accommodate all levels of fitness and we ask you to complete a short Health and Safety questionnaire before the course commences so that we take any specific requirements or concerns into account. However, while one or two of the itineraries include steep ascents and some of the terrain may be rocky (or wet!), all walks to destinations are fairly short and it is worth remembering that this is a photography course and not a strenuous hiking trek! You will however need to have appropriate all-weather clothing and footwear for outdoor activities.
